The BMW 628 CSI is a luxury 4-seater coupé, one of the rare Bavarian production models designed by Paul Brack. Its front-mounted, water-cooled, 6-cylinder in-line engine with overhead camshaft and 7-bearing crankshaft develops 185 HP. Fuel injection reduced fuel consumption compared with carburetor models. Most Phase II models were equipped with an automatic gearbox. Independent suspension with McPherson front axle and 24mm stabilizer bar, coil springs front and rear, ventilated front and rear brake discs with servo, 4-piston front calipers and power-assisted ball circuit steering make this a true grand tourer, a queen of the road and freeway.
